More Than a Father partners with addiction recovery treatment centers in Frederick and Washington Counties to provide quality parenting programming that enriches the personal lives and family wellness of their patients. Our program is rooted in the idea that the way most approach parenting is directly tied to the experiences they had while growing up. We help parents connect with these experiences by creating a safe space for them to reflect, intentionally heal, and then integrate the lessons learned into practical and successful parenting skills.

Our aim is to support parents in recovery through consistent weekly meetings covering a variety of topics including stress, dealing with emotions, discipline, collaboration and parenting, creative solutions to parenting challenges, cultivating a stable environment, developing a family culture, and much more. We strive each week to meet our goal of helping parents thrive by gaining more self worth, and understanding, of the power and enrichment they can access through a deeper connection with their children. Each one of our parenting facilitators are trauma informed and introduce the significant role trauma can play in development, and it’s long term effects if never adequately addressed.
